Water gardens, waterfalls and ponds add beauty and value to every home. The ‘Frame it All’ system is so simple to assemble with just a hammer and a screwdriver in about an hour or two. Kit comes with everything you need to build the frame for your waterfall pond kit! The frame is immensely strong, durable, weather and waterproof. The frame kit manufactured with 40% wood fiber and 60% recycled polyethylene, the eco-friendly plastic timbers never rot or splinter and are completely weatherproof.
Where you locate your water garden is important. Locating a pond in a sunny or shady location will have differing effects. A shady location will reduce algae growth but overhanging branches can drop junk in the pond. It will also keep the pond cooler in the hottest months. Fish need cooler water. Most fish thrive in water that is 65-75F. Make sure you don't let the water get over 75F. A sunny location helps plant growth but also it aids the growth of algae. It will keep the pond warm on cool days; however it will also overheat the pond on really sunny days, especially if the liner is black. It’s a good idea to locate the rear of the waterfall against a fence or solid structure to hide the back and create the illusion of a hidden water source feeding the waterfall.
Once the frame is assembled, dig out six inches depth of soil in the center of the pond to give an eventual depth of 12 inches. Dig out 12 inches depth if you want your pond to support fish. Save the soil you remove to completely fill the interior of the waterfall frame in order to form a base to support the waterfall stones and for using to bank up all the exterior edges of the framework. If you need additional soil, use a half yard of good screened topsoil to build up against the waterfall & ponds edge and gradually taper the soil away from the ponds edge.
Drape and mold the entire waterfall and pond with a square rubber liner and add an 8' flexible hose and submersible re-circulating pump 120 volt and 1.2 minimum amps. Place your pump and filter into the pond’s water and run the recycling hose on the exterior of the frame up to the rear top of your waterfall.
The last step is to landscape the entire lined framework with a varied assortment of rocks and pebbles. Before placing rocks and plants It’s not necessary or advisable to bring the soil level up around the top of your waterfall as plants and stone will help camouflage the sides and rear of your waterfall. Combine various sizes of the same type of stone with plants of differing sizes. Close gaps in the waterfalls spillways using mortar or spray foam so that the moving water forms pools behind the stones and then travels over the stones to create the waterfall over the rock. Pick out fairly large flat stones for the waterfall spillways. Carefully placing the stones will go a long way to give your water feature a natural look.. To achieve a natural look stay away from creating organized patterns. Have some rocks dart out from the ponds edge towards the water forming a natural diving board for frogs.
Now you can enjoy many tranquil hours in the beauty and serenity of your fabulous waterfall and pond – and be the envy of all your neighbors.
