What a fabulous sight; the noontime sun highlighting this year’s first glorious array of fresh veggies – growing upwards on the Veggie Wall plant trellis that we installed just weeks ago. Bunches of small mouth-watering tomatoes, cucumbers, string beans and zucchini all ripening on the vine firmly attached to the vegetable trellis – it seems just like yesterday that we planted them in our Frame It All raised garden bed. They look and feel healthy and strong.
It’s a fact that plants grown vertically on a planter trellis dry more rapidly after rain and that the warm air surrounding them keeps them free from any potential blight. How quickly they seem to have spread and multiplied on the vegetable garden trellis walls. Even though we only had enough space for a 4’ x 4’ x 12” high raised garden, the Veggie Wall provided an additional 48 square feet of vertical space for growing plants upwards. Plants cling tenaciously to and climb up the garden wall trellis’s durable nylon netting that is attached to the three sturdy 6 feet tall stainless steel uprights.
Next season we plan to double the size of our raised garden bed and add another Veggie Wall to the existing one using the ‘T’ junctions which are included with each plant trellis kit. It is so simple to do and will give us another 48 square feet of vertical growing area. The beauty of the Frame It All Veggie Wall is that it is simple to set up in no time at all with only a screwdriver. Each of the vegetable trellis’s uprights locates into a heavy duty recycled ABS plastic stake which is slid directly into the aperture at the top of each of the raised garden bed corner joints. A matching plastic cap finishes off each of the three corners.
